About Us – Ashley Farm Shop

Our Story

Ashley Farm Shop was established a little over 8 years ago.

On the farm itself, we breed our own Lambs. Cattle are bought as ‘Store’ and are fattened and finished on our land, the 150 acres of available grazing being among the finest in the Welland Valley, if not England! The excellent Lamb and Beef product from animals raised here is then later sold to customers in the Farm Shop.

We also sell Pork, Chicken and Game and we source these from responsible and reliable outlets and suppliers, locally where possible. We always check other suppliers Hygiene ratings and are rightly proud of our own 5 star status.

Our meat is also prepared on site into a range of other delicious products such as Sausages, Burgers, Pork pies, pastry topped Meat pies, Cottage and Shepherds Pies, Pasties and Sausage rolls. We work very well as a team at the Farm Shop and this shows in the standard of product we produce for our customers. Mother and daughter team Sue and Gill are at the helm and are front of house as well as making delicious cakes to satisfy the sweeter toothed out there! Our Butcher Rob is a master at his craft and has been with us for 2 years. In the kitchen we have Del who has been here for 4 years. Sarah helps out in the shop when required.

We have received awards in recent years for some of our produce, latest being for Rob’s excellent Pastrami. We were also nominated last year in a regional competition for ‘Best Farm Shop’.

We firmly believe our products taste better as they are made using only the best of ingredients, and we deal in regular turnover of ‘Small-batch’ quantities, rather than going for bulk production. We like to provide wholesome food and generously portioned prepared meals with that ‘Home-cooked’ look and taste.

The Shop sells much much more than just our meats and pies! We have an extensive range of products available in our ‘Deli’ – including locally produced Jam’s and Chutneys, regional Cheeses and dairy products, Fish pies and cakes, breads, flour, oats, sweet and savoury biscuits, sauces, beers, wines and spirits, soft drinks etc, etc…Again where possible we like to support local suppliers and sell their products.

We also stock a wide range of vegetables and fruits, and our eggs come fresh daily into the shop from our very own free range hens.

Ashley Farm started off as ‘Herb Farm’ and we still sell a wide range of herbs as well as perennials, cottage garden plants and seasonal vegetable plants. Our supplies of Bird food remain very popular with Wildlife loving locals.

Ashley Farm Shop runs two Artisan Food and Craft fairs on site annually. This year events are being held on 21st May, and 8th October. In these events, we not only showcase our own goods, but invite many other local food and craft producers along to make the event an interesting and worthwhile few hours out for visitors.

The Farm Shop is definitely a handy outlet for not just local people, but is utilised by the good folks from further afield, such as the Welland Valley, Nene Valley, Rutland, Harborough area and beyond!

Many people enjoy the chat in the shop whilst buying and it is very much a social hub.

We are happy to advertise local events in the shop and regularly support local charitable events. We also like to be considerate to some of our elderly and infirm locals and will deliver to them where possible as and when the need arises.

The staff at Ashley Farm shop are constantly looking to develop new ideas, stock, and both sweet and savoury products to improve service to our valued customers. There is a ‘base’ of firm favourites in place at the shop already, but we are always welcome to suggestions and will accommodate these where at all possible.
